Laser Treatments and Light Treatments
FRAXEL® Dual: The FRAXEL DUAL 1550/1927 is a non-ablative laser skin resurfacing treatment that effectively targets the skin’s surface layers for a smoother, fresher, younger-looking appearance. Microscopic laser columns penetrate the skin to treat only a fraction of the skin tissue at a time–leaving the surrounding tissue untouched. This technique promotes rapid healing by stimulating new healthy cells from the inside out. Soon after treatment, the surface of your skin will feel softer and smoother, look brighter, and show a more even tone. Improvement in your skin will continue for the next three to six months as the deeper layers continue to create new collagen, and results can be long-lasting, depending on your lifestyle, age, skin condition, and skin care regimen. The Elluminate Treatment is a painless four-layer facial rejuvenation laser procedure now offered with this device. This state-of-the-art treatment eliminates blood vessels and sunspots. It stimulates new collagen to significantly soften fine lines and wrinkles and improve skin texture in one highly effective maneuver. This new laser is now available at our Truckee location. Dr. Wallach, who has been using various skin lasers for over twenty years, is available to answer any questions, along with Shiloh Boyer, RN.
Microneedling
Often called Collagen Induction Therapy, microneedling is a technique that creates micro-injuries in the skin’s surface, which kicks the skin into healing mode and stimulates collagen and elastin production. This non-invasive treatment involves using a device to create tiny holes in the skin’s surface, followed by applying a topical product directly onto the surface for a deeper level of absorption and penetration into the skin. Microneedling helps rejuvenate and remove acne scars, sunspots, melasma, wrinkles, and stretch marks.
Chemical Peels
We offer a range of chemical peels that vary in degree of intensity and are tailored to your needs. Our skilled Cosmetic Specialists will help you choose the best treatment for your skin. The following are the peels available at The Skin Institute:
- Salicylic acid peels are a helpful solution for oily and acne-prone skin and can brighten the skin with minimal downtime.
- Glycolic acid peels exfoliate and hydrate, brighten the skin, and increase the skin’s ability to absorb serums and moisturizers. This peel can also help treat melasma.
- Lactic acid peels exfoliate the top layer of cells and reveal fresh, healthy skin. This peel is a good choice for those treating age spots and to give your skin a healthy glow.
BLU-U® Blue Light Photodynamic Therapy treats actinic keratoses (AKs) of the face or scalp and is FDA-cleared to treat moderate inflammatory acne vulgaris. The treatment process is slightly different for AKs and acne, so your Provider will walk you through the details based on what will work best for your skin.
