New Skin Cancer & Dermatology Institute Location Now Open

We are thrilled about the grand opening of our newest Skin Cancer & Dermatology Institute location in Northwest Reno on November 22, 2021. We are located at 9672 S. McCarran Boulevard in the Monte Vista Village center.

Our new location was developed to better serve our growing community and expand our services in the Greater Reno-Tahoe area. For over 20 years, Skin Cancer & Dermatology Institute has been helping the area residents with top-notch Medical and Cosmetic Dermatology care. Using cutting-edge technology, our Providers offer a comprehensive scope of services with a continuous flow of care to our patients now across 10 convenient locations.

Skin Cancer & Dermatology Institute specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of a wide array of skin conditions, diseases, and cancers. Our Medical Providers will take the time to ensure you understand all the details of your treatment by addressing any concerns. Medical Dermatology treatments include treating acne, athlete’s foot, eczema, melanomas, moles, psoriasis, and rosacea.

We will work together to help you achieve that. It is our privilege to introduce the Providers at our new Reno-Monte Vista  location – Dr. Brad Hammon, Dr. Katie Manno, and Dr. Michael Zumwalt.

Brad Hammon, D.O. is a Nevada native, from the small town of Winnemucca in Northern Nevada. Dr. Hammon earned his undergraduate degree in biology, with minors in chemistry and psychology from the University of Nevada, Reno. He went on to complete medical school at Rocky Vista University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Parker, Colorado, followed by his internship at Sampson Region Medical Center in North Carolina. He obtained his dermatology training at Ohio Health Riverside Methodist in Columbus, Ohio. Dr. Hammon enjoys all aspects of dermatology, including surgical and cosmetic procedures. He received extensive training in pediatric dermatology during his residency, working with distinguished pediatric dermatologists for six months at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus. Since leaving his home state of Nevada, Dr. Hammon has been excited to come back to provide dermatological care to the community.

Katie Manno, M.D. is originally from Chicago, Illinois. She graduated from the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor with a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry, and minors in Spanish and literature. She returned to Chicago to obtain her medical degree at Rush Medical College, where she was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. Dr. Manno completed a transitional one-year internship at Presence Resurrection Medical Center before her three-year dermatology residency at the John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County in Chicago. She loves practicing dermatology because of the ability to use medical, surgical, and cosmetic skills to care for and treat people of all ages. She values the opportunity to establish long-term relationships with patients. She has been practicing dermatology in Reno for two years and is excited to continue her practice at our new location.

Michael Zumwalt, M.D., Fellowship-Trained Mohs Surgeon, was born and raised in Paradise, California in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada. After completing his undergraduate studies in Biology at Pacific Union College in Napa Valley, he moved to Southern California where he completed his medical studies and dermatology residency training at Loma Linda University. Dr. Zumwalt’s passion for treating advanced skin cancers led him to complete the Mohs Micrographic Surgery and Cutaneous Oncology Fellowship Training at Scripps Clinic in La Jolla. During his Mohs fellowship, Dr. Zumwalt had the privilege of training under the direction of Hugh Greenway, M.D. who is a past fellow of Dr. Frederick Mohs, the original pioneer of the surgical technique. He participated in over 1,000 Mohs surgical procedures during his fellowship training which included treating many rare and extensive cutaneous malignancies. At Scripps, Dr. Zumwalt also trained with plastic, head and neck, oculoplastic and hand surgeons. He learned advanced reconstruction techniques and received extensive cosmetic training from Dr. Vic Ross, world-renowned for his laser expertise.
