Continuing with our spotlight series, we are featuring the Solta Medical Clear + Brilliant® laser this month. If you are looking for a quick, gentle, no-downtime treatment that will leave your skin looking radiant and refreshed, this treatment is a great pick.
What does Clear + Brilliant treat?
Clear + Brilliant ® can be used to treat numerous concerns, including:
- hyperpigmentation
- skin texture
- fine lines and wrinkles
No matter how old you are, lifestyle, sun exposure, and environmental conditions can all contribute to lackluster skin. Whether you want to help prevent early signs of aging, or address pigment and texture, Clear + Brilliant® is an excellent choice! It is also great as a maintenance treatment after more aggressive skin resurfacing treatments such as Fraxel®.
How Does it Work?
Clear + Brilliant ® is a non-invasive laser that creates thousands of microscopic, controlled injuries in the upper layers of the skin. This stimulates the replacement of damaged skin with healthy-looking tissue and helps to produce more youthful-looking skin. As a result, your skin will feel softer, have a more even texture, and have a healthier glow. These treatments are designed to be used on all skin types and tones, making them great for anyone looking to boost their skin. It is, however, contraindicated for patients who are pregnant, breast-feeding, or have heart problems.
The best results are achieved with more than one treatment. The number of treatments is customized to your concerns and skincare goals. In recent studies, patients have reported visible improvements after 4 to 6 treatments. Treatments will be spaced out every few weeks. However, many patients choose to have routine treatments done as part of their overall skincare regimen. Your Provider will discuss a personalized treatment plan with you.
As with any other cosmetic treatment, the first step is to schedule a consultation with a Board-Certified Dermatologist to see if Clear + Brilliant® is right for you! This consultation will involve the Provider examining your skin, getting to know your skin goals and what you are hoping to achieve. You will also be asked about the medications you are taking and the cosmetic products you are using.
What to Expect on the Day of the Procedure
The day of your procedure, you will come to the office 30 to 45 minutes before your scheduled appointment to prepare you for the treatment. The Provider or Medical Assistant will apply a topical numbing cream on your skin to lessen any discomfort. After 30 minutes, your treatment will begin.
Your Provider will expertly guide the Clear + Brilliant® handpiece across the treatment area and actively treat your skin for 15-20 minutes, with the procedure lasting about 30 minutes. The laser utilizes the patented Intelligent Optical Tracking® technology to ensure proper contact with your skin, allowing for a uniform application to all areas.
Downtime and Aftercare
There is very minimal downtime to this treatment, and it will not interfere with most everyday activities. After your procedure, you will feel like your skin has a mild sunburn which will subside within a few hours.
You will want to avoid heating the skin with activities such as working out, hiking, biking, or using heated pools or whirlpools for 24 to 48 hours (about two days). Avoid the sun during this period, and you will also need to be diligent with applying a physical SPF daily to protect your skin. Look for one with an SPF of 30 or more. Do not use any exfoliants or try to rub your face until it has a chance to recover.
Results and How You Can Help Them Last
You will start to see the full results of your treatment after about a week or two. Results can last for months, depending on various factors such as your age, skin condition, and how you take care of your skin. To help your results last, sun protection is vital. Always use sunscreen and reapply a few times a day. Make sure to hydrate and maintain a good skin regimen.
