FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Reno, Nev., February 13. 2026 – The Skin Institute was recently featured on KOLO 8 Morning Break, where KOLO 8 reporter Hana Altenburg visited the practice’s new Lakeside location to spotlight its expansion and dedication to advanced cosmetic dermatology services. During the segment, Altenburg spoke with Dr. Whitney Hovenic, a double board-certified dermatologist and Mohs micrographic dermatologic surgeon, about the vision for the new space and the wide range of treatment options available locally.
The Skin Institute’s Lakeside Crossing location officially opened on November 17, 2025. The modern, 4,000-square-foot facility is located directly across from the organization’s long-standing Warren Way location and is dedicated exclusively to cosmetic dermatology. Designed to improve accessibility and convenience for Reno-area residents, the new location allows The Skin Institute to enhance patient experience and expand appointment availability.
“There are so many things we can do with the skin,” said Dr. Hovenic. “From lasers that treat sun damage, scars, and birthmarks to advanced options for acne scarring, many people don’t realize these treatments are available right here in Reno; they don’t need to travel to the Bay Area or Los Angeles.”
While cosmetic services are now centralized at the Lakeside Crossing location, the Warren Way location will continue to provide medical dermatology and skin cancer care. This dual-location model enables the practice to deliver highly specialized care while maintaining patient continuity.
The Skin Institute’s Lakeside Crossing location offers a comprehensive menu of cosmetic dermatology services, including:
- Ablative and non-ablative laser treatments
- Light therapy
- Medical-grade facials and chemical peels
- Microneedling
- Cosmetic injectables, including BOTOX® Cosmetic and dermal fillers
- Dermatologist-recommended skincare products
Dr. Hovenic, who completed a fellowship in procedural dermatology encompassing Mohs surgery and cosmetic dermatology, emphasized the connection between aesthetic treatments and long-term skin health.
“For patients who feel stuck with acne scars or long-term skin concerns, I want them to know they have options,” Dr. Hovenic added. “There is so much we can do to help people feel confident and comfortable in their skin.”
