Dr. Samantha Schneider is excited to call Northern Nevada her new home. She loves the outdoors and is excited to continue exploring the Sierra Nevada with her husband, Damon, and expert hiking dog, Rocket.
Dr. Schneider received her undergraduate degree from Washington University in St. Louis where she double-majored in French and Anthropology. She graduated from Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx, New York with an induction into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. She completed her medical internship at Presbyterian St. Luke’s Hospital in Denver, Colorado where she learned just how much she loves being near the mountains. Then, she moved to Detroit, Michigan for her three-year dermatology residency at Henry Ford Hospital. Finally, she completed her fellowship training in Mohs Micrographic Surgery with Drs. M. Laurin Council and Eva Hurst at Washington University in St. Louis.
Dr. Schneider is a board-certified dermatologist and a fellowship-trained Mohs surgeon. She specializes in Mohs surgery, which is a technique that removes a skin cancer with the smallest possible margin. Dr. Schneider is also trained in facial reconstruction to repair the area after the skin cancer removal. Dr. Schneider’s interests in dermatology extend beyond purely surgical. During residency, she served as co-editor on two textbooks “Longitudinal Observation of Pediatric Dermatology Patients” and “A Practical Guide to Dermatology” as well as numerous articles on pediatric dermatology, the environmental impact of sunscreen ingredients as well as topics in procedural and cosmetic dermatology. She has a strong clinical interest in pediatric dermatology, pigmentary disorders including vitiligo and photodermatoses. She also enjoys cosmetic dermatology including neurotoxins, soft tissue facial fillers, Kybella, and various laser treatments.
Outside of work, Dr. Schneider enjoys hiking, camping and swimming in Alpine Lakes during the summer and skiing in the winter. She loves to travel and experience new cultures and is a highly skilled knitter who always finds her way to the local yarn store (LYS).
